Detailed information

The Prym Knitting Calculator is a very easy to use tool. It will help you to calculate the stitches you need to knit with each yarn, depending on the length in centimetres you want to knit.

This calculator is made of flexible plastic that can be easily manipulated. It has a square shape of 15 x 15 cm and it is white with black graphics and letters.

In the back it has a 14 centimetres ruler and a 10 centimetres ruler.

What is it for?

This calculator will allow you to know the thickness of your knitting needles which, due to wear and tear, no longer have the number of mm written on them. It has 20 measuring holes to determine the gauge of your needles between 1.5 mm and 10 mm.

You only have to pass the needle through the holes until it fits perfectly in one of them. The sizes included are: 1.5 mm, 1.75 mm, 2 mm, 2.25 mm, 2.5 mm, 2.75 mm, 3 mm, 3.25 mm, 3.5 mm, 3.75 mm, 4 mm, 4.5 mm, 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm and 10 mm.

On the other hand, you will also be able to calculate the number of stitches that you must knit to get the desired centimetres in your sewing pieces thanks to a very complete and specialized chart. It is ideal to make jumpers, blankets, garments and other complements with an exact size.

How to use it?

This calculator has a red marker that moves through the table of measurements.

It is very easy to calculate the stitches you need for your work of an exact size.

EXAMPLE - What you need to do is:

On the label on your yarn ball, you will need to find the stitches and rows needed to make a 10 x 10 centimetre square.

For example, if it says "you must knit 24 stitches" to make 10 centimetres, move the red piece to 24.

On the left side of the red piece, you will see a scale from 1 to 100 centimetres. If you need the T-shirt to be 50 centimetres wide, look at the number 50 on the red piece. Next to it will appear the number of stitches you need to knit (in this case, 120 stitches).

If you need to know a size that is not on the red piece, you can add up the stitches of different sizes. That is, if for example you need to knit a 12 centimetre work, look at the red piece in the 10 cm stitches and add the 2 centimetre stitches. In this case there would be 24 stitches and 5 stitches, so for the 12 centimetre project you would need to knit 29 stitches.

Use this handy stitch calculator before knitting your knitted projects. It's the perfect accessory to carry in your knitting bag.
